Mühldorf ist bunt e.V.
“Mühldorf is colourful” is the registered non-profit network for democracy and tolerance in the district of Mühldorf am Inn in Upper Bavaria, Germany. It brings together clubs, churches, trade unions, democratic parties, civic initiatives and individual volunteers. The full German website is at muehldorf-ist-bunt.de.
What we stand for
We strengthen democracy and a responsible, solidary civil society in the district of Mühldorf am Inn. We create places where people of different origins, faiths, generations and convictions meet, listen to each other and act together, and we speak up whenever people are demeaned because of their origin, religion, gender identity or disability.
Under its statutes (§ 2) the association pursues exclusively and directly charitable purposes within the meaning of the German Fiscal Code (Abgabenordnung, “steuerbegünstigte Zwecke”):
- promoting the democratic state and an engaged civil society in the district;
- civic engagement for democracy education across all age groups, and education in general;
- international understanding, intercultural and interfaith dialogue, and a democratic Europe;
- arts and culture;
- support for people persecuted for political, racial or religious reasons, refugees, victims of crime and people discriminated against for their gender identity or sexual orientation, and remembrance of victims of persecution;
- equal treatment of cultures, religions, world views and generations.
The association is politically, ethnically and denominationally neutral and does not support any party or religious organisation. It is run by volunteers.
Our ongoing activities
Week against Racism 2026
“Don’t give up the ship”, 19–24 October 2026: an art exhibition, readings, a panel discussion, a democracy game for children, a wheelchair awareness training and community evenings. 14 programme items on six days in seven towns and villages, organised with more than a dozen partner organisations. Patron: cabaret artist Werner Meier.
International Weeks against Racism
Since 2022 we have brought this nationwide campaign to the district, with information stands, rallies and conversations in the town centres of Mühldorf and Waldkraiburg.
Dialogue and civic education
Talks and panel discussions on right-wing extremism, the causes of flight and conspiracy narratives, e.g. a panel with six parliamentary candidates of democratic parties before about 100 guests.
Encounter
Shared meals and conversation: interfaith iftar dinners, cooking with refugees, and World Cafés such as “Human rights for all?!” at the Café International.
Festivals and action days
A colourful festival at changing locations in the district with regional bands, culture, food and hands-on stands, plus activities at other local festivals.
Rallies and civil courage
Peaceful, broad-based rallies whenever hatred is stirred up locally, from the 2012 counter-protest against a neo-Nazi march to the “Silent Majority” candle chains in 2022.
